The Low-Carbon Cooking Workshop
The workshop includes a practical cooking session choosing low-carbon ingredients and cooking methods to cook healthy and delicious food as well as an introduction on low carbon living practices. The promotion of Low-Carbon Cooking and Living will help to save resources and energy for sustainable living. Here, we are taught to grow a pot of herbs and take home as cooking ingredients.
Here are some tips that the workshop provided to us for reducing your environmental impact at home and while shopping
Switching to energy-saving light bulbs and appliances, and turning them off when not in use.
Travel tips include walking, using public transportation, and choosing recycled products.
When shopping, consider the environmental impact before buying and supporting recycling efforts.
Tour of GreenHub
The event also included a tour of the historical architecture of "GreenHub", led by experts on the green development project. The center was formerly Tai Po's main police station and is now a comprehensive conservation project for historical architecture, ancient trees, and the surrounding ecology. All of the center's gardens, facilities, and services are operated and managed in a low-carbon model. GreenHub has received numerous awards, including the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage Conservation Honor Award and the Green Building Award organized by the Hong Kong Green Building Council and the Professional Green Building Council.
We are guided to grow our own potted plants. That's an interesting experience!
